# Choose sound, vibration and flash Each alarm has its own sound settings. Open it and scroll down to **Alarm Tone**, **Alarm type**, **Volume**, **Incremental volume** and **Camera flash**. ## Pick a tone or your own music 1. Tap **Alarm Tone**. 2. Choose a sound from the list. You can listen before deciding. 3. To use a music file, tap **+ ADD NEW** and select it with Android’s file picker. 4. Confirm your choice, then tap **Save** in the editor. Use an audio file available on your phone. A link to a song on a streaming service is not an audio file. After adding music, test that your alarm can play it. ## Sound, vibration or both Under **Alarm type**, choose **Sound**, **Vibration** or **Sound and vibration**. Vibration requires a device that supports it. If you choose vibration only, there will be no alarm tone. If you want sound, also check that the selected tone is not **None**. ## Normal and gradual volume The **Volume** slider sets the level for this alarm. Choose a level you can hear from wherever you leave your phone. With **Incremental volume**, the sound starts quietly and rises to your chosen level. It does not necessarily rise to the phone’s maximum volume. > Test the level with a real alarm. The volume of a video or your everyday music may be different from the alarm volume. ## Start the flash before the sound Under **Camera flash**, choose **Off**, **Steady** or **Flashing**. You can also choose how long the sound waits after the flash turns on. Your device needs a compatible flash. For example, a 10-second delay starts the flash first and waits 10 seconds before starting the sound. If you want to hear the alarm at 7:30, allow for that delay when setting it up. The flash and light control do different jobs: one gives out light and the other detects room light. If you use both, avoid mirrors or surfaces that reflect the flash towards the sensor; they could turn off or snooze the alarm earlier than you expect. ## How long it keeps ringing Under **The alarm will sound for**, choose how long the alarm keeps ringing if you do not turn it off. The available options range from 1 to 30 minutes. This is separate from the snooze interval, which decides when it rings again.
